Michigan Basketball: Top recruiting priorities for Coach Howard
Franz Wagner
Class of 2019 – International
Franz Wagner‘s recruitment is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated storylines at this moment. An elite international prospect who would likely be (at least) a top-100 player, Wagner has been heavily targeted by Michigan for some time while he is also still weighing the possibility of staying overseas and playing professionally. No matter what, Coach Howard should immediately be on the phone in an attempt to lure the talented forward.
Michigan is losing a ton of talent this offseason and they need some immediately-impactful newcomers to join the program in the next couple of months. Re-landing Wilson is far from a guarantee and the potential of a decommitment from Bajema is also real. The coaching staff needs to be active on all fronts with hopes of landing as many top players as possible. If that means finding a way to bring Wagner over to Ann Arbor, then that would be a massive win.
With Charles Matthews, Jordan Poole, and Ignas Brazdeikis all leaving, the Wolverines desperately need wing help for next season. He stands at 6-foot-7 and would be a great addition for the future. Wagner recently visited campus (without a head coach) and seems to be choosing between either playing at Michigan or remaining with Alba Berlin.
