Houston Cougars

That said, if Grimes is interested in returning to his home state, Houston might be his best option. His hometown is in the larger Houston metropolitan area and the Cougars have emerged as a consistent top 25-caliber program under head coach Kelvin Sampson.

Playing for Houston would give Grimes the opportunity to play point guard – a very important thing to him – in what is becoming one of the country’s better conferences in the American. And, for that reason, Houston could be interested in Grimes.

Penny Hardaway and Danny Hurley have raised the stakes in the AAC with their recruiting successes and Memphis and UConn, respectively, and Houston needs to keep pace if they want to stay in the conference’s elite tier.

For all his struggles at Kansas, Grimes is still a vastly talented offensive player that can fill it up with the best of them when he’s on his game. And, if you believe Grimes, he’ll be on his game when he has the ball in his hands.

Houston would give him that opportunity on a quality team close to his hometown, and that’s what they’ll likely pitch him on.
