Kentucky Basketball: 2019 NBA Draft profile for wing Keldon Johnson
Strengths
Keldon Johnson is an offensive specimen that can fill it up inside the arc and get to the free throw line with ease. He’s got glimpses of James Harden in his game with his ability to draw fouls and get to the free throw stripe.
He finished ninth in the SEC in free throw attempts (155) and 12th in free throws made (109) this past season while shooting 70.3 percent (16th in the SEC) from the free throw line.
Free throws were one of the reasons he posted seven games with 20 points or more in 2018-19. In a 77-62 victory over Tennessee State back on Nov. 23, he went 13-of-18 (72.2 percent) from the free throw line in a career-high 27-point performance.
Johnson is also an underrated rebounder with his size at 6-foot-6. He finished eighth in the SEC in defensive rebounds (168) and 17th in total rebounds (217) this past season. He snagged a career-high 17 rebounds on Feb. 23 against the Auburn Tigers and dished out a career-high five assists that game as well. With his ability to be all over the floor, he’s one player with the potential to go high in this year’s draft.
