3. Luguentz Dort – Arizona State

2018-19 stats: 16.1 ppg 4.3 rpg 2.3 apg

One of the top shooting guards in the NBA Draft, Luguentz Dort is a 6’4 playmaker who can create his own shot at any time. As a freshman, he led Arizona State to the NCAA Tournament and reached double figures in 30 of 34 games.

Dort shot just 40% from the field overall and 31% from three-point range, so that’s a concern that scouts have taken into consideration. That’s why his draft stock is around late-first to early-second at the moment. At pick No. 32, the former Sun Devil may be the best player available at that time.

The Suns don’t really need a starting shooting guard with Booker around but this pick could fill out some depth concerns. Outside of 19-year veteran Jamal Crawford, Phoenix doesn’t have another pure shooting guard on the roster, having others play out of position at times. If Dort earns a rotation spot, Booker can rest while the team would still have a solid scorer on the court.

Dort still has a lot to work on in regards to his shooting and shot selection but starting out as a reserve should help him start out as a more effective player. The Suns should get the best available at this spot and while it would be for more depth, this is a legit option for them to look at.
