Marquette Golden Eagles

One of the more surprising NBA Draft decisions was Markus Howard coming back for his senior season after averaging 25.0 ppg for Marquette. The All-American and reigning Big East Player of the Year has thrived under head coach Steve Wojciechowski and his offensive system, giving as much power as possible to the point guards. He’ll be gone after next year, with Marquette needing to find his replacement.

The only ones currently projected to be on the roster are transfer Koby McEwen and 2019 three-star combo guard Dexter Akanno. Both are better suited off the ball, which opens things up for Suggs to come right in and lead the Golden Eagles from day 1.

Marquette has been a finalist for a lot of star guard prospects from the Midwest region due to their high-powered offenses. Transfers like Andrew Rowsey and Matt Carlino have looked great in this system and didn’t have the talent like a player such as Suggs has. Imagine what Coach Woj can do with a highly talented guard prospect. There’s a need and a fit, and add to it a close to home location, the Golden Eagles have a real shot at landing him. And based on their current roster, it seems as if they’re putting all their chips in.
