Murray State Racers

Murray State is a very dangerous program in a recruiting battle for any point guard. Even though the program is not among the nation’s elite, it is absolutely impossible to overlook the idea that the Racers really are a “Point Guard U.” Even though they are a mid-major without a ton of players in the NBA, this program has done a remarkable job with developing lead guards in recent years and that will give them a strong shot at potentially landing Myles Tate.

In just the last few seasons, Murray State has helped to develop guards such as Isaiah Canaan, Cameron Payne, Jonathan Stark, and Ja Morant. That is an impressive string of players over the last decade and Tate could be the next in line. That idea is at least tempting and it could give head coach Matt McMahon a leg up over some of the power conference programs also in this recruiting battle.

Murray State offered Tate back in mid-May and it seems as though there is still mutual contact. Coach McMahon has to be looking into using Ja Morant’s NBA Draft stock to improve recruiting in the near future and landing a player of Tate’s caliber would be an outstanding start. The Point Guard U of the mid-major world could snag another one.
