NCAA Basketball: 5 most watchable teams for 2019-20 season
By Max Hastings
No. 1 – Michigan State Spartans
The system that produced who Warriors coach Steve Kerr calls “the heart and soul” of his team Draymond Green, Tom Izzo’s offense is the pinnacle of watchability in college basketball. Ranking number 1 in the nation in Assists Per Field Goals Made 3 of the past four years, the peak being in 2016, where 71.3 percent of Michigan State‘s points came from assists.
To put that in perspective, the 73 win Warriors that same year assisted on 66.8 percent of their field goals. While Izzo’s offense isn’t as efficient or as fast as Steve Kerr’s, the teamwork and collectiveness in Izzo’s are more than evident.
Take it from Draymond himself, who said in an interview with NBC Sports that he was “lost” before he met Izzo and credits him for being where he is today, a four-time all-star and three-time NBA Champion. Izzo has produced so many different watchable players and teams during his career at Michigan State, but this year might be his most watchable team yet.
With the entire core from last years final four team returning, including superstar floor general Cassius Winston, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this team surpass the incredible 71.3 percent of assisted field goals and become one of the most watchable teams of all time.
