UCLA Bruins

UCLA is one of the most storied programs in all of college basketball. With that said, though, the Bruins have struggled a bit as of late. Although still very solid on the recruiting trail, the program’s success on the court has dipped below their standards of old in recent years. This resulted in the program firing former head coach Steve Alford and replacing him with Mick Cronin (formerly of Cincinnati) this offseason. Although some have questioned whether or nor Cronin’s coaching style will be able to lure top-rated recruits, those issues should already be calmed considering he is already making list cuts such as this one.

With regards to the future of UCLA basketball, Daishen Nix could be the point guard to lead them back to prominence. Much like highly-rated lead guard Lonzo Ball did a couple of years ago, Nix has the ability to be a top-tier recruit in a highly-rated class full of potential collegiate superstars. With Cronin’s level of success at previous jobs, it is reasonable to assume that he can adapt to coaching elite-level athletes and build a scheme that puts each player in a position to succeed.

If Coach Cronin is able to continue the program’s long-standing reputation with regards to recruiting, then UCLA will be in great shape moving forward. He is an outstanding X’s-and-O’s coach that should continue to succeed, especially with more resources at UCLA than he had at Cincinnati. Daishen Nix would be a superb recruiting win for the new head coach as the point guard could be the player to lead the program into the new era of Mick Cronin.
