St. John’s Basketball: 2020 recruiting targets for the Red Storm
Max Amadasun – Bronx, NY
C | 6-foot-10 | 230 lbs | Not Ranked
St. John’s is in the market to land a big man in this class and Max Amadasun fits the mold. He is an athletic 6-foot-10 center who should succeed on both ends of the floor. Even though he is not nationally ranked by 247Sports Composite, Amadasun recently showcased his rebounding and rim-protecting with New York Lightning, where he was teammates with a number of other SJU targets, including commit Posh Alexander. Over the course of the summer, he averaged 6.2 points (57.0% FG), 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game on the circuit. In addition to St. John’s, Amadasun holds offers from Rhode island and UMass, among others. This could be a future under-the-radar snag for Coach Anderson.
Zed Key – Glen Head, NY
PF | 6-foot-8 | 215 lbs | No. 221 overall
Zed Key skyrocketed up the national radar this summer thanks to some phenomenal performances on the Adidas circuit. He is a current high school teammate with fellow SJU target Andre Curbelo at LuHi and it seems likely that the Red Storm will be prioritizing both of them. Key brings an all-around game as a power forward; he can use his toughness in the paint, find the open man with crisp passes, and has the ability to score both inside and out. Although still not a highly-rated player, Key projects as a glass-cleaning forward at the college level with a blossoming offensive game. He is yet to cut his list but St. John’s is definitely involved. Key could also have an impact on Curbelo’s eventual decision and that dynamic duo could excel at the college level together as well.
