Che Evans to make college choice on Sept. 12

2020 three-star recruit Che Evans will make his collegiate choice, either Boise State or San Diego State, on Sept. 12. Evans had also previously had Arkansas, Florida, Ohio State, TCU, and Texas Tech in his final seven schools.

The 6-6 wing is very athletic and has a scorer’s mentality as he can put the ball in the basket a variety of ways. He is at his best when he gets to the hoop, whether in transition or in the halfcourt. Evans also possesses good handles and is a capable shooter. However, the Baltimore (Md.) native does need to work on his offensive versatility and shooting range as well as finishing through contact.

Evans has seen his stock drop over the last few months. In June, he was considered a consensus three-plus star recruit and was rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports, 247Sports Composite, and Rivals. Evans is now rated a three-star recruit by all four major recruiting services. His overall 247Sports rankings also took a tumble as he is now ranked 175th in the class by 247Sports and 210th by 247Sports Composite.

San Diego State is considered the favorite to obtain Evans’ services. The Aztecs, who got involved late in the process, could use some quality depth on the wing. Rotational players Jordan Schakel, who made strides from his freshman campaign last season, and Matt Mitchell will be seniors in 2020-21. Coach Brian Dutcher also brought in 6-7 four-star wing Keshad Johnson this year. SDSU has already landed 2020 three-star point guard Lamont Butler Jr. but is slated to have at least three more scholarships available for next year.

Meanwhile, Evans has said to be high on Boise State, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he chose to go with the Broncos. Boise State has been “in on” him since February 2018. BSU could really use an infusion of talent, and they are expected to have six scholarships available in 2020.
