Pat Chambers on the Hot Seat?

Only two winning seasons in his eight years in charge of Penn State and no tournament appearances means Chambers time is running out. Penn State isn’t a popular destination for recruits to play their ball right now and something has to change. It’s hard to see Chambers keeping his job for another season if the Nittany Lions aren’t at least close to making the tournament.

Fans had high expectations after winning the NIT and to say Penn State was underwhelming in that following season would be an understatement. Chambers even had to defend himself at the end of last year as to why he should remain in charge, it’s a results-driven business, and if he can’t get results this year it’s hard to see Penn State not moving on.

There are some talented pieces there this year, Lamar Stevens is one of the most talented players in the Big 10. He’s going to need help, guys like Mike Watkins, Myles Dread, Myreon Jones, and Seth Lundy and they’re going to have to step up if this program wants to get anywhere.

I’m strangely optimistic that the long tournament drought may be coming to an end this year. The Big 10 is known for putting a lot of teams into the tournament and who knows, maybe Penn State can play their way into the tournament.
