Deivon Smith – Loganville, GA

PG | 5-foot-11 | 160 lbs | No. 51 overall

With Kira Lewis expected to depart after this coming season, Alabama is in the market to land a point guard from the 2020 class. With that in mind, though, there are not many top-tier lead guards left on the board with Jeremy Roach (Duke), Daishen Nix (UCLA), and Dwon Odom (Xavier) already committed.

Deivon Smith, though, is certainly among the remaining elite as he is ranked at No. 51 overall in the class as the seventh-best point guard. It should come as no surprise that the Crimson Tide are involved with the Georgia native, but they will have a tough time securing this commitment. Louisville has been involved for some time and they have emerged as the clear favorite over the last couple of weeks.

It is important to mention, though, that Smith already took his official visit to Louisville and did not commit right afterward. This could open the door for other programs to ramp up their efforts and that includes Alabama

As a player, Smith is a remarkable athlete. He is lightning quick with the ball in his hands and can sky above the rim for emphatic plays despite the fact that he stands at 5-foot-11. Smith makes up for this lack of size with his athleticism and creativity with the ball. He will likely need to improve as a 3-point shooter but he is deadly when breaking down his defender and getting to the basket.

Some of the other programs involved with Smith include Miami, NC State, and Florida State.
