Quite a few good matchups on tap for Georgia in their non-conference portion of their schedule. Georgia will need to win as many of these as possible prior to SEC conference play as the SEC looks to be the deepest conference in the country. This can be an advantage for Georgia if they find themselves in or on the bubble if the committee takes in to account how difficult their schedule was.

The non-conference schedule is highlighted by a trip to Memphis in January and a potential date with Michigan State in the Maui Invitational. Memphis boast the number one recruiting in the national accompanied by the number one player in the country, James Wiseman. A clash between Wiseman and Anthony Edwards will gardener national attention and there will be a number of NBA scouts present at that game to watch the two battle it out.

In-state rivalry game against Georgia Tech and a trip to Arizona State to visit Bobby Hurley and company are both tough games. That opening game against Dayton won’t be easy. The Flyers are looking to earn their way back into the NCAA tournament following a short drought. They’re looking to make a statement early one and you can guarantee they have Georgia in their cross heirs. Wins against Dayton and GT would be a big way to start the season for Georgia.

As for the SEC portion of the schedule, they’re going to have to drastically improve from last year after going 2-16. Georgia realistically needs to aim for at least nine wins this season to have a chance at an at large bid. It’s going to be hard, Georgia is going to have to win some big games on the road.
