Why you should know Dubose

Houston Baptist has no history in basketball. Has been to one NCAA tournament in 1983 and has had six winning seasons in history. Aside from having one of the best uniform sets in College basketball as their claim to fame. The Huskies also have one of the best mid-major players in the country and one of the best players in the Southland Conference. Dubose led the highest-scoring team in the Southland on offense at 17 points per game. His 17.4 points per game were good for third overall in the league.

Within that 17.4 ppg average, the junior led the conference in three-point percentage and finished in the top ten in overall field goal percentage. He shot 49% from the floor and 44% from long-range. He was the biggest threat for the Huskies from long-range a year ago. Overall Houston Baptist finished in the bottom half of the conference in three-point shooting. Without DuBose it would have been much worse.

The junior guard does so much more than score for the Huskies. He is their leader on the floor and his play reflects that. He was a good distributor tallying 3.4 assists per game. He was also able to reel in 6.3 rebounds per game. DuBose was one of only two players to finish top ten in the conference in points, shooting percentage, three-point percentage, Steals, assists and rebounds.

That proves he has an all-around game and is a threat to do more than just score. DuBose finished the season with five straight double-double’s. He is the most important player on the Roster for the Huskies. How DuBose can get his teammates involved and take some of the scoring load off his shoulders will go a long way towards Houston Baptist and their quest for a winning record.
