6. G Quentin Grimes (Houston)

The Kansas transfer has received his waiver and will be immediately eligible to play this season. Grimes started all 36 games for Kansas last season as a freshman and will slot right into Kelvin Sampson’s backcourt. Grimes is a game-changer in the American Athletic Conference.

Grimes struggled a bit to find his shooting touch throughout the year but it’s hard to blame him, thrown into the fire as a freshman, he had to step up fast. Kelvin Sampson lost his two star guards and Grimes will play a large role in replacing them.

Grimes was with Houston for their summer tour in Italy back in early August helping to ease his transition. Grimes tour was highlighted with a 22 point, 10 rebounds in their win over LLC University. Grimes averaged 14.3 points per game throughout the four games in Italy.

5. G Quinton Rose (Temple)

Quinton Rose made the All-AAC Second Team last season and was one of the better scorers in the conference. With the departure of Shizz Alston, Rose may find himself with even more opportunities on the offensive end of the floor.

One thing Rose struggled with last year was the three-ball, shooting only 27% on 4.5 attempts per game isn’t ideal and a part of his game that he’ll look to improve. Despite that Rose is primed for a big senior year as the Owls make a transition at the head coaching position. Rose is looking to prove he can play at the next level.
