SEC Basketball: Top 25 returning players for 2019-20 season
22. Keyontae Johnson | Florida | F | Sophomore |
On a Florida team that many are saying has the talent to win the national title, it will be players like Keyontae Johnson that went through the struggles with the Gators last year that must step up to make sure the team is taken to better heights in 2019-20. I think his performance as a freshman a season ago proves that he is capable of doing that.
Last season, Johnson played in 36 games, averaging 24 minutes per contest. He averaged 8.1 ppg and 6.4 rpg. At 6’5, he is a very small forward, but this allows him to be very versatile and a threat from anywhere on the floor. It is going to be scary seeing how good the Florida frontcourt will be with Johnson, Blackshear, and Lewis.
21. Saben Lee | Vanderbilt | G | Junior |
With the departure of Darius Garland and Simi Shittu, it seems like Saben Lee will get the call to lead the Commodores this season. Many people do not know much about Saben Lee, given that Vanderbilt was not very good and most of the attention was placed on Garland and Shittu. That will change this year. People are going to have to know his name.
As a sophomore, Saben Lee averaged 12.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, and 3.7 apg. If Vanderbilt is to improve this year, then Lee is going to have to make things happen on his own. He is certainly capable of doing so, and he will put up a strong showing against bigger teams in the conference.
