6’10 230 F Jaylin Williams – Fort Smith, AR

(247Sports 4-star, national #69)

Jaylin Williams is a prime example of the new-age forward in basketball and is one of the most highly coveted prospects left in the 2020 class at his position.

Williams possesses a versatile skill-set for his size.  While he can patrol the paint on both ends of the floor, he is most intriguing due to his excellent passing ability out of the post and ability to step out beyond the arc and shoot the three efficiently.

When you think of Eric Musselman’s “pace and space” offensive scheme, it is hard to imagine a better fit in the front-court then Jaylin Williams.  Couple that with the fact that he lives just down the road from the University in Fort Smith and it is easy to see why Jaylin is such an important piece for the Hogs.

It has been an interesting recruitment for Williams, who despite living nearby and visiting on an unofficial capacity several times did not until this past weekend finally make it to campus for an official visit.  He had, however, just visited Auburn with fellow Woodz Elite teammate Chris Moore which created a bit of apprehension among Razorback faithful.

During his visit, though, Williams came away very impressed and it just so happened that he was on campus at the same time Moses Moody announced his commitment to Arkansas.  Interestingly enough, shortly after his visit Williams canceled an upcoming trip to Texas A&M and announced that he would be making his decision in a couple of weeks.

This almost has to be very good news for Arkansas as it appears he will be choosing between the Razorbacks and Auburn.  Given his uptick of interest and activity with the Hogs in recent weeks as well as his proximity to home it is reasonable to believe that Arkansas is a clear favorite here.

It is impressive enough the Musselman has the Razorbacks in position to possibly land all five of these talented in-state prospects.  However, even if they were to miss on one Arkansas is very much in the mix for other highly regarded prospects including Keon Ambrose-Hylton and Kyree Walker.

Regardless of the final outcome, Arkansas fans should be very pleased and excited for the future.  The Musselman era is off to an excellent start.
