Avoid the Slow Start

If you saw the keys for UConn against Florida then you’ll know I’m double-dipping with this one. UConn hasn’t gotten off to a good start this season. At the under 16 timeout against Florida, UConn had no points and five turnovers but was able to stay in the game due to their stout defense.

Against Saint Joe’s UConn found themselves trailing 15-0. UConn has had a knack for starting off slow and needs to fix the problem before it turns into a trend for the rest of the season. A solid opening display from UConn can set the tone for the rest of the game.

Guys like Vital, Gilbert, and Polley need to hit shots early for the Huskies and the turnovers need to be limited. UConn seems to be a little out of control in the opening portion of games, slowing it down, taking care of the ball and making smart passes will be a huge help.

If UConn can get off on the right foot to start the game and get settled early it will make things a lot easier. Getting some confidence in scoring the ball early will go a long way and prevent UConn from having to dig themselves out of a hole.
