Fred Hoiberg came in and was supposed to be the answer, but really should we be surprised that the Cornhuskers are not good? They flipped their entire roster and didn’t bring in a lot of proven talent. They brought in good players, but when the whole team is new even with the best players they are going to struggle and that is exactly what Nebraska is doing.

It started off bad when they lost their opening game to UC Riverside and got even worse when they lost their next game against Southern Utah. Throw in a loss to George Mason and blowout losses to Georgia Tech and Creighton and this is just not a very good basketball team this year.

We thought that distinction would fall on Northwestern, but they have shown life where the Cornhuskers just look downright dreadful.

It doesn’t get easier for them as they start Big Ten play with an improved Indiana team and Purdue who has looked really good the last few games.

Hoiberg is still probably the right man for the job but to think they were going to be a good team this year was just being silly. He needs time to really bring in his guys and work the transfers like he did when he was with Iowa State.

The Cornhuskers could be good in the near future but that future is not this year. They will struggle to win many Big Ten games this year and the Nebraska faithful will just have to wait until next year and hopefully not longer.
