1. Who has been the non-Obi Toppin MVP for Dayton so far?

Luddecke

Ibi Watson. Dayton knew what they had with guys like Jalen Crutcher, Trey Landers, and Ryan Mikesell coming into the season, but the transfers were all question marks. Watson has fit in very nicely so far with 11.7 points per game, and he’s shooting 48% from three-point land.

Gluck

Jalen Crutcher. All the best teams in the nation have a great guard and Dayton is no exception with Crutcher. The junior point guard has good handles, can drive and finish, and can knock down the three-ball. But most importantly, Crutcher leads the Flyers in assists per game (5.4 apg) and forms a fantastic pick-n-roll duo with Toppin. Without Crutcher’s passing and the attention he draws out the pick-n-roll, Toppin would still be great. But together the duo makes Dayton a much scarier team.

Miller

I’ll go with Ibi Watson. His play off the bench has been fantastic so far and he’s arguably Dayton’s top three-point shooter.

Gerena

The non-Obi Toppin MVP for the Dayton Flyers has been Jaylen Crutcher. He may not be able to score as efficiently as his fellow teammates sometimes, but he is still a productive scorer, being in the top two on the team in point scored per game with 13.1 points per game. Crutcher has led the team in offense in some of Dayton’s notable non-conference games such as a 21-point performance against Saint Mary’s and a 19 point game against Colorado. He also leads the team in assists with 5.4 per game.
