Boston College is off to second-best start under Jim Christian

BC had its season-high four-game winning streak snapped with its loss on Tuesday. Still, the Eagles are off to its second-best start under sixth-year coach Jim Christian at 8-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play.  The Eagles shot 33.9% from the field, which is their second-worst shooting performance of the year, and tied a season-low with three trifectas on 18 attempts. Their 19 turnovers were also their second-highest total of the campaign. Boston College did record 10 steals in the game, marking the fifth time this season that they have accomplished the feat.

Consistency has been an issue for the Eagles, especially on the offensive end, where they are ranked 143rd in Ken Pom’s offensive efficiency rankings. Overall, Boston College is ranked 143rd in KenPom’s rankings, 145 in Sports Reference Simple Ratings, and 149 in NCAA Net Rankings.

CJ Felder led the way for BC against Duke with a career-high 13 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds, two blocks, and a steal. It was just the 6-7 freshman’s second double-digit scoring performance. He has been plagued with foul trouble recently. Leading scorer and assist man Derryck Thornton, who played at Duke in 2015-16, struggled against his former team as he finished with six points on 3-for-12 shooting from the field along with only one assist and two turnovers.
