(2) Butler vs. (15) Northern Colorado

With seven combined Q1+2 wins and superb metric rankings, Kansas belongs as one of the No. 1 seeds right now. The Jayhawks sit at 12-2 (2-0 B12) on the season and have emerged as the favorite to win the Big 12 once again. This start to the season should not be a surprise considering the incredible amount of talent on this roster. Devon Dotson and Udoke Azubuike are the stars but their supporting cast is quite strong as well. Christian Braun is starting to come into his own and that bodes well for this season and the future.

Moving a bit further down this region, Butler dropped one seed line by no fault of its own. The Dawgs remain a heavy contender to be on the top line with an 8-1 record in Q1+2 games. Texas Tech and San Diego State both jumped them due to better quality wins at the top of their resumes. It’s also important to mention that a couple of Butler’s wins dropped from Q1 to Q2 this week. Butler, though, ranks in the Top 8 in every metric except Sagarin and deserves plenty of consideration to be on the No. 1 seed line.

Additionally, Wichita State is one of my biggest risers. I have been really high on the Shockers throughout this season and their resume is starting to warrant a leap in bracketology. Head coach Gregg Marshall is working with a fairly young roster but it is clicking tremendously well on the defensive end of the floor. Wichita State holds three wins over teams in my field right now and its lone loss came at a neutral-site to West Virginia – it’s hard to be too upset about that.
