Duke Blue Devils

Duke is one of a few programs where it’s impossible to project their roster a year and a half from now, since most of their players, this and next year, will be entering the next NBA Draft. But things are a bit clearer at the point guard position, at least in terms of Duke needing one. Both Tre Jones and Jordan Goldwire from this roster won’t be around, leaving class of 2020 guard commits
DJ Steward and Jeremy Roach left.

Both of them could be “one and dones” as well but if Roach in particular stays around like Jones did this past offseason, that could complicate Chandler’s decision. Top-100 players may be willing to be backups for elite programs but not the No. 2 overall point guard in a given class. The Blue Devils will certainly be a factor but a lot has to be decided before truly being a frontrunner.

Florida State Seminoles

Head coach Leonard Hamilton has quietly landed some five-star talent before, with the latest being current freshman forward Patrick Williams. With how big the rotations are, individual players rarely have huge stat sheets, Florida State’s players still get the attention of the NBA and have their own opportunities to shine.

With both Devin Vassell and MJ Walker out of the picture and no true point guards, committed in the 2020 class, Chandler would have a wide-open path to the starting spot. But if he’s planning on being around for just one year, this isn’t necessarily the right system to maximize his time in college. Yet if the young guard is open to sticking around, Chandler won’t have to worry about being over-recruited.
