Kentucky Wildcats

Like Duke, the Wildcats roster is going to look entirely different in 2021-22. Both guards Tyrese Maxey and Immanuel Quickley will certainly leave after this or next season, with five-star guard Devin Askew the only true ball-handler for the upcoming recruiting class.

Of course, Kentucky is also going after a number of other 2021 recruits, including the top three ranked players (Kuminga, Patrick Baldwin Jr., and Paolo Banchero). But the player who could impact Chandler’s recruitment the most is Zion Harmon, a top-40 ranked point guard out of the state of Kentucky. Chandler is the better player on paper (for now) but head coach John Calipari will always play the best players and has a short leash. The competition will be there at PG if both players commit.

Kansas Jayhawks

Assuming sophomore point guard Devon Dotson is gone after this year, the Jayhawks already know who his replacement will be, with five-star combo guard Bryce Thompson coming for next season. Three-star point guard Latrell Jossell will be joining for depth purpose but Chandler and Thompson could easily play alongside one another on the court if the ladder sticks around for another year.

What could be the issue is that the program is under investigation by the NCAA for alleged recruiting violations and has been served a notice of allegations, one of multiple basketball teams. The potential punishments are unknown but even if a reduction of scholarships is part of it, that won’t affect Chandler. But a possible postseason ban could change his decision, so Kansas needs this saga to end soon before it has a real effect on future recruiting.
