NCAA Basketball Power Rankings: Penn State soaring, LSU falls
Houston has rather quietly gone about its business this season while launching out to a 19-5 record. The Cougars have not played the toughest schedule in the country but that record is hard to ignore, as are their high rankings in efficiency metrics. Head coach Kelvin Sampson once again appears to have a solid NCAA Tournament squad on his hands and that was relatively obvious during this past week.
Over the past few days, Houston handled its business on a two-game homestand by taking down Tulane and Wichita State. This seems like a rather pedestrian week but it is important to note that the Cougars dispatched the Shockers in that latter game by 33 points. It was an absolute demolition of a very solid team as Houston showed just how elite it can be.
UH is a very balanced team despite being led offensively by just a freshman in Caleb Mills.
This squad has grown throughout the year and is the favorite to win the AAC down the stretch of the campaign. A relatively tough stretch approaches, though, as Houston will have to play three of its next four games on the road. Will the Cougars’ strong conference record (9-2) survive?
