Midwest Region (Indianapolis, IN)

(1) Kansas vs. (16) Prairie View A&M/Robert Morris

(8) Saint Mary’s vs. (9) Wichita State

(4) Creighton vs. (13) North Texas

(5) Michigan State vs. (12) Liberty

(6) Marquette vs. (11) Florida

(3) Louisville vs. (14) New Mexico State

(7) Michigan vs. (10) Arizona State

(2) Dayton vs. (15) South Dakota State

Michigan State is one of the toughest teams in the country to figure out. The Spartans are not playing well at this moment their quadrant records are not the best in the country by any stretch. With that said, though, they rank extremely well in efficiency metrics (BPI, KenPom, Sagarin) as well as in the NET. I placed Michigan State as a No. 5 seed in this projection but their predictive metrics could place them as high as a No. 3 seed. Contrastly, though, MSU’s actual quadrant record and resume metrics would have them lower than this placement. The Spartans have lost four of five.

Moving further down the region, Arizona State has really been turning on the jets recently. The Sun Devils have rattled off five consecutive wins (and seven of eight) over the past few weeks to move onto the right side of the projected cutline. This has been a sensational run for the team as they have soared past the majority of bubble squads. They have also come away victorious in each of their last three road games while finding ways to win away from home as well. ASU closing in on the single-digit seed territory with a two-game homestand against Oregon and Oregon State up next.
