Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are currently 7-8 in ACC play after starting out 2-4. Head coach Mike Brey is still figuring things out with his rotation of players as they’ve gone 1-2 in their last three games. While they lost in overtime to the Virginia Cavaliers this past Tuesday, they came back from a 15-point deficit to get a win over North Carolina this past Monday.

The Fighting Irish have a stud in John Mooney (16.2 ppg, 12.7 rpg) and T.J. Gibbs has held his own as well, putting up 13.2 points, 3.3 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game but as a team, they rank 91st in the nation in points per contest at 74.6 points per game. Even worse, they rank 167th in scoring defense, allowing 69.0 points per game.

Notre Dame finished 3-15 in the conference last season and has seen a vast improvement this season in conference play, however, their current 16-10 overall record may not be strong enough to get them in the Big Dance. Their NET ranking is currently 61 but they’re 1-6 against Quadrant 1 teams and 2-3 against teams in Quadrant 2.  They would need to nearly play perfect and win their next six games to be considered. Right now, the Fighting Irish are a sell.

Verdict: Sell
