Dayton Flyers (27-2, 16-0 Atlantic 10)

While other teams lose when they struggle, Dayton just continues to find ways to win. They defeated George Mason by seven despite having an off shooting night. No such thing happened on Friday against Davidson, making all but one shot inside the arc. It leaves the Flyers just two games away from finishing the regular season unbeaten, with a huge game against Rhode Island on Wednesday.

Similar to Creighton, Dayton benefited from the other two seeds losing this week, cementing their place as a 2 seed themselves. It’ll be hard for them though to make a move onto the 1 line, still not having that signature resume victory. But at least from the eye-test, the Flyers absolutely are one of the best teams in the country.

Kentucky Wildcats (24-5, 14-2 SEC)

Kentucky fans have been upset with Bracketologists for having them as low as a 4 seed lately but that’s what happens when your bad loss to Evansville continues to get worse, having just gone the entire Missouri Valley Conference slate without a single win. The good news for the Wildcats is that they’ve been taking care of their own business, winners of eight straight.

They beat Texas A&M and Auburn, awarding them yet another SEC regular-season title. It also helps boost their own resume, now top-15 in the NET rankings with another Quad 1 victory. And as mentioned before, the struggles of Duke and others now gives Kentucky a viable path to a 2 seed in the Big Dance, provided that they don’t slip up in the conference tournament.
