Key Teams

The Favorite: Houston Cougars

Houston has a deep rotation this year with a lot of talent, they lost out on the number one seed for the AAC Tournament on a tiebreaker but regardless they remain the favorites. Houston remained ranked in this week’s AP poll and are in the best position to get in with an at large bid but Kelvin Sampson’s team is going after the AAC title after Cincinnati left a sour taste in their mouth last season.

The Biggest Threat: Wichita State

Wichita State got the fourth and final bye game meaning they’re up near the top and would face the one seed in the semi-finals. Wichita State needs to do a little damage to guarantee their at large status but they’re gunning for the AAC title. The Shockers head into the tournament on a high note after a 20 point win against Tulsa, but they’ve got a lot to prove.

The Dark Horse: UConn Huskies

Christian Vital. Back to back AAC Player of the Week awards for the UConn senior, he’s catching fire at just the right time. UConn is looking to go out of the AAC with a bang and they’re the hottest team going into the conference tournament, winners of five straight UConn will open with a first-round matchup against Tulane, a team they just beat this past Sunday. This team has been all over the map this season but has the tools for the run.
