Treyton Thompson – La Lumiere School (IN)

PF | 6-foot-11 | 190bs lbs | Committed to Minnesota

No. 92 in Rivals150 | No. 87 in Top247

A well-rounded big man with the ability to impact games in a variety of ways, Treyton Thompson looks to be a major part of the future for Minnesota. He is originally from the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” and could immediately slide into the rotation by the time he arrives as a freshman.

Thompson still needs to add some muscle to his frame but there is plenty of time for that area to develop prior to joining the Gophers. Thompson is already regarded as a Top 100 prospect by both Rivals and 247, making him one of the best players to have already made his college decision.

On the offensive end of the floor, Thompson makes his biggest impact as a rim-runner. He runs the floor well and slashes to the hoop for finishes with consistency. Due to his ability to occasionally knock down a perimeter jumper, defenses always have to be wary of where he is on the court. He is a quick decision-maker on the catch and can makes this happen in the post.

Thompson has mentioned his desire to recruit more in-state talent to Minnesota as well since his commitment (Echo Press):

"“If we can get some Minnesota kids here, it would definitely boost the fans up and everything like that. I feel if we can keep them home, we have really good talent. We could probably win a national championship.”"
