Best/Worst Moments of the Season

Ironically, the Seminoles opened the season with a 73-71 loss to the Pittsburgh Panthers to open up 0-1 in conference action to start the 2019-20 campaign. They bounced back the next game with a 63-51 victory over in-state rival Florida, who was ranked No. 6 in the AP Poll at the time. The game was a coming-out party for sophomore Devin Vassell, who led the way with 13 points.

Florida State would win seven in a row after that, including a tough 63-60 overtime victory over the Purdue Boilermakers before losing on the road to the Indiana Hoosiers on Dec. 3. It was just the wakeup call the Seminoles would need though, as they won 10 straight games after that.

They dropped their first ACC game on the road to Virginia 61-56 on Jan. 28. Ironically enough, Florida State is 26-26 against the Cavaliers dating back to the 1949-50 season. The Seminoles got back in the win column on Feb. 1 behind a career-high 27 points and seven 3-pointers from the sophomore Vassell.

The Noles really turned a corner during ACC play at home against a top-ranked Louisville Cardinals squad on Feb. 24. They went on a 15-0 run that was capped off by a big dunk from Patrick Williams to go onto outscore the Cardinals 50-27 and erase a 10-point deficit en route to their 13th win in conference action.
