Moments: High Points and Low Points of the Season

The Hokies opened their season winning six straight games, opening the year with a 67-60 victory over the Clemson Tigers to open ACC action. Landers Nolley II scored 30 points in his debut while Naheim Alleyne put up 11 points off the bench in a victory.

A win over No. 3 ranked Michigan State in the Maui Invitational on Nov. 25 kickstarted things and gave fans an early glimpse of a bright future. Things changed after that though from a performance standpoint.

Virginia Tech lost three-straight games before stringing together another win streak of four games to boost their record to 10-3 to close out nonconference action in December. They entered the month of January with a conference record of 1-1 and the bulk of the schedule ahead of them.

The Hokies fell big to the Virginia Cavaliers 65-39 before winning three-straight games to boost their record to 4-2 with two road wins over Wake Forest and Syracuse but the back end proved to be a task for them. They went 2-10 across their last 12 ACC games to close the season with some growing pains at 7-13 in ACC play.

There was still some good to take away from their season. Nolley still finished eighth in the ACC in 3-pointers made (68) while Cone excelled from a percentage standpoint. As a team, the Hokies ranked 12th in the NCAA in 3-pointers made (315) and 2nd in the ACC.
