Trey McGowens (Pittsburgh)

2019-2020: 11.5 Points, 3.3 Rebounds, 3.6 Assists

Trey McGowens entered the transfer portal following the conclusion of his sophomore season at Pittsburgh. The Panthers really struggled this past season and were one of the bottom teams in the ACC. McGowens was going to be a critical piece for Pittsburgh next season.

McGowens has started in 62 games over the past two seasons and has a lot of experience already. He’s an excellent two-way player that can thrive on both sides of the ball, perfect for Hurley’s style.

McGowens was inconsistent this season, similar to how he played his freshman, he does have the ability to take over games, he had over 30 points twice his freshman season. His numbers from his freshman year and sophomore year were nearly identical in fact.

For UConn, McGowen would be a great asset on both sides of the ball, averaging almost two steals per game he would be a great guy to get to lock down other teams guards. McGowens should be able to thrive in a setting where there are good scoring options around him.

UConn would have one of the best defensive backcourts in the conference, UConn had a knack for creating turnovers last season and were already top five in the nation last season in blocks with 185. Hurley has really preached defensive hustle for UConn.

Jon Rothstein was the one who reported that McGowens was receiving interest from UConn.
