Big East-Big Ten

Georgetown, Big East: Georgetown is here not so much as a result of their record, which was a disappointing 15-17 as the Hoyas lost their last seven games. But more so because the Hoyas had so much turmoil and departures. Georgetown finished the season with nine healthy scholarship players as junior Galen Alexander along with sophomore James Akinjo, and Josh LeBlanc departed early in the season. Meanwhile, Mac McClung and Omer Yurtseven were shut down late in the season due to injuries.

Weber State, Big Sky: Weber State went into the season as the favorite to win the Big Sky championship, but in reality, the Wildcats were nowhere near that level. Weber State finished the campaign with a 12-20 record, three of those victories were against non-DI teams, and 8-12 in conference play — marking the program’s first losing season since 2014-15. Nine of the losses were by double-figures with three of the setbacks by 30 or more. On the positive side, senior guard Jerrick Harding had a tremendous season.

Charleston Southern, Big South: Charleston Southern was expected to finish in the top half of the Big South, but the Buccaneers lost five of their first six games with each of the setbacks coming by at least 14 points. Then leading scorer, Dontrell Shuler decided to transfer late in January after missing four games as a result of serving a suspension. The Bucs closed the season losing nine of their last 12 games to finish the campaign at 14-18 and 7-11 in conference play.

Michigan, Big Ten: Michigan had a strong season and exceeded expectations in the early going, opening the campaign with seven straight wins and reaching as high as No. 4 in the AP poll. However, the Wolverines posted a 500 mark the rest of the way to finish with a 19-12 record, marking the first time since 2014-15 that they have not reached 20 victories. Perhaps the season would have turned out a little better if Isaiah Livers remained healthy for the entire season as the U-M went 5-5 without him.
