Early preview of next season

The Villanova Wildcats can expect more of the same in 2020-21; a younger roster but with more experience than the previous year which will pay dividends in long stretches of games. With that in mind, the Wildcats have a pretty set roster. Jay Wright and his staff can be selective about who they recruit since they are expecting little to no changeover on their roster. Returning in 2020-21 are all of the main rotation players.

The only exceptions could be Saddiq Bey and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl leaving early for the NBA Draft. With so many things in flux, it is hard to say one way or another if these two stars will leave the Villanova Wildcats. Out of Bey and Robinson-Earl, Bey has the best chance of being drafted after compiling a career year with the Wildcats.

Bey cannot make a wrong decision in this situation. Either he leaves for the NBA or he returns to a more experienced Villanova Wildcats team poised to make a run at the national championship whenever play resumes. If he stays, he can increase his stock with another strong year and long run. However, the catch-22 as always is if he stays and has a bad year, he loses guaranteed money from an NBA contract. Bey will be back with Coach Wright to make a run into March.

The overall potential of the team is limitless because Jay Wright will bring back a core group of highly regarded prospects with a full year under his tutelage. Wright has proven again and again he can take a highly experienced team deep into March and he has also proven he can do the same with an inexperienced team. The Villanova Wildcats will be National Champion in 2020-21.

The Wildcats are here to stay, folks. Over the last ten years, they have been one of the best college basketball teams. They have proven it on the court and in recruiting. Wright has a successful system in place which works well with experienced and inexperienced teams. Wright knows how to recruit, develop and send off NBA caliber players.

More importantly, Wright knows how to lead his team during tumultuous times and losing streaks. In fact, it seems, Wright brings the best out of his team and players in times like those. Heading into an uncertain 2020-21 is actually a recipe for success for the Villanova Wildcats.
