Tony Sanders commits to Notre Dame

Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey added to his 2020 recruiting class with the addition of three-star prospect Tony Sanders Jr., who verbally committed to the team on April 3. Sanders held 10 and chose Notre Dame over Florida State, Georgia, and Dayton, among others.

The Miami (FL) native is a versatile 6-7 forward, who can play both the 3 and 4 positions, as he can stretch the floor with his shooting and possesses the above-average athleticism. Sanders plays hard, defends multi-positions well, and scores on all three levels.

Sanders is a consensus three-star prospect. 247Sports rank as the 198th best prospect in the class while 247Sports Composite has him at No. 222. He has been given a three-star rating by Rivals as well but is not in their national rankings.

Sanders averaged  20.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.3 assists this past season in 30 games at Gulliver Prep. He shot 42% from the floor and 34% from beyond the arc. The Raiders finished with a 23-7 record, which included two wins in the Florida 4A State playoffs.

With the addition of Sanders, Notre Dame now has three members in its 2020 recruiting class joining three-star forward Matt Zona and two-star forward Elijah Taylor. The Irish currently have three more scholarships available for the upcoming season.
