San Diego State Aztecs

The Aztecs are hoping to replace one mid-major replacement with another, as former Santa Clara guard KJ Feagin has graduated. There’s also a possibility that they’ll lose Mountain West Player of the Year Malachi Flynn, who could enter the NBA Draft as well. But even if he comes back, San Diego State will still need some offense coming in for next season.

That being said, Flynn and Gomez wouldn’t be the greatest fit. Feagin averaged nearly 18 ppg when healthy at Santa Clara but became an elite defender and second-fiddle to Flynn on the perimeter. With Gomez, Flynn would have to slide over to the two-guard spot and become the go-to defender. Changing what worked with Flynn isn’t the best move but head coach Brian Dutcher may have an ideal plan on how to make it work if the Aztecs win out.

Washington State Cougars

Wazzu still has its lead guard in Isaac Bonton but could use a new starting point guard of Jervae Robinson (5.9 ppg). Gomez would be a big improvement on the offensive end and would help out both Bonton and CJ Elleby when it comes to scoring.

I would argue that right now, the Cougars have the worst odds of making the NCAA Tournament next season, based on the current rosters. However, things could change in a huge way in the next week, with Washington State going after 20 ppg scorer Terrell Brown from Seattle U, along with grad transfer forward Charles Minlend, who played under head coach Kyle Smith while at San Francisco. The Cougars have a real shot to land all three players, which would have the team looking like a real contender in the Pac-12 next season.

Next. Predictions for top uncommitted prospects. dark

Is it possible for Terrell Gomez to end up out of the west coast even without taking a physical visit? Sure. But I have a feeling that the Los Angeles transfer will end up either at San Diego State or Washington State. What could decide it all is what happens with Flynn with the Aztecs, as well as the other transfer situations with the Cougars. If I had to predict, I would go with Wazzu to land Gomez.
