What to Expect
It was mentioned in the article earlier last season around eight months ago about what to expect from Williams but let’s recap. The Cardinal are getting a player who is going to lead the offense and is going to be one of the best freshmen in the Pac 12 conference next season. He was ranked the fifth-best player in the country for a reason. The incoming freshman is an elite scorer who is going to demand the ball. He can take over games offensively and is extremely explosive.
Williams coming from a school with the prowess of Sierra Canyon, the forward is going to be battle-tested. In high school, he played the best of best as far as competition goes. Williams went head-to-head with Gonzaga commit Jalen Suggs when they played Minnehaha, Johnathon Kuminga, Adama Sanogo and Zarique Nutter in a win over the Patrick School, and the overall number one player in the 2020 class by 247 sports and USC commit Evan Mobley. The bottom line is Williams is battle-tested and played in big games this season against some of the best high school players in the country. The stage will not be too big for him.
Stanford fans hopefully don’t get to attached to their future star as he is likely only to be in Palo Alto for a season. There were rumblings that had the world not been experiencing a global pandemic that the star recruit was going to forego college and head overseas for a year before heading to the NBA. With the uncertainty surrounding everything globally right now, he decided to take his talents to College. While it will most likely be for a year as mentioned with what the Cardinal have coming back it could be a very special year that Stanford needs to take advantage of.
