ACC Basketball: Pitt makes finalist of two top prospects, Duke scheduling

  • Former Boston Collge guard Chris Herren Jr. has transferred to San Diego. After averaging 15.4 minutes as a freshman, Herren saw his playing time and production decreased last season with the Eagles. The 6-3 guard averaged 1.7 points on 24.4% shooting from the field and 31.6% from beyond the arc in 8.7 minutes of action over 18 appearances in 2019-20.
  • Trevor Booker was selected to Clemson Hall of Fame on April 20. Booker played for the Tigers from 2006-10 and averaged at least 10 points along with six rebounds in each of his four seasons. A two-time All-ACC selection, the 6-8 forward finished his career with averages of 12.9 points and 7.9 rebounds while shooting 55.9% from the field. He was also selected with the 23rd overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards. Booker spent eight seasons in the NBA.
  • Former Georgia Tech center Evan Cole has transferred to Utah Valley. Cole averaged career-highs with 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting a personal-best 47.1% from the field. He scored in double-figures twice and had one contest where he hauled in at least 10 rebounds.
  • Ex-Georgia Tech forward Kristan Sjolund has transferred to UTEP. Sjolund took a redshirt this past season. He averaged three points in 21 appearances in 2018-19.
  • Louisville point guard Darius Perry has transferred to UCF. Perry started 26 games last year for the Cardinals though he saw his minutes dwindle as the season progressed. The 6-2 point guard averaged 5.2 points along with 2.5 assists while shooting 39.1% from the field and 38.9% from beyond the arc.
  • 2020 ACC COY Leonard Hamilton was once again honored on April 17 as he was named to the College Basketball Coaching Honor Roll by Achieving Coaching Excellence.  The Coaching Honor Roll recognizes leaders in women’s and men’s college basketball that have demonstrated ideals of coaching excellence that include on and off the court performance, community involvement, and serving as champions for college basketball, their coaching peers, and the coaching profession. Hamilton led the Seminoles to a program record 26 wins and to their first-ever ACC regular-season crown, where they posted a program-best 16 conference victories.

  • Former Virginia Tech star Landers Nolley transferred to Memphis. Nolley, ESPN’s top sit-out transfer, earned all-freshman honors as he produced 15.5 points and 5.8 rebounds. He chose Memphis over Georgia and Ole Miss.
  • 2021 shooting guard Michael James received an offer from NC State on April 20.
  • Former UNC forward Brandon Huffman signs with Jacksonville State.
