Wisconsin: D’Mitrik Trice

As a 6’0 redshirt senior who made an All-Big Ten third team off the strength of almost ten points per game with four rebounds and four assists, predicting that D’Mitrik Trice is going to have a good season is not an extremely hot take.

Despite Micah Potter also being a good candidate to drastically improve upon his ten-point average, the ball is guaranteed to be in Trice’s hands. With no threat from an incoming point guard to challenge for playing time, Trice will be running the Wisconsin Basketball offense.

Coach Greg Gard is known for using different variations of the Double Stagger Screen, which will look a little different without Brevin Pritzi spotting up at the three-point line. 2019-20 team-leading scorer 6’11 center Nate Reuvers will become the primary option for the 27 percent of the baskets Trice sets up while on the court.

With four guards that were selected to the All-Big Ten first or second-team not returning, Trice is not only to breakthrough with his personal best season but will be an elite point guard in the Big Ten. Trice may not reach Cassius Winston numbers, but look for him to tally Anthony Cowan type stats for the Badgers.
