New Mexico State Aggies

Another program who has consistently won at a high level is New Mexico State, which has dominated the WAC for the past decade. And they’re once again a heavy favorite to win the league next season, especially if point guard AJ Harris gets to come back for an extra year from the NCAA. With him and Evan Gilyard gone after next season anyway, the need to find another capable ball-handler.

The connection with Mack for the program is that they’re considered a go-to place for JUCO transfers and have been willing to take on players in need of a “second chance”. Head coach Chris Jans being up for the East Tennessee State job may have him distracted at the moment but once the Aggies handle that situation, there’s no reason why not to reach of to Mack, who would be an instant WAC Player of the Year candidate.

North Texas Mean Green

Even since head coach Grant McCasland took over the job a few years ago, the Mean Green has been right at the top of Conference USA, winning 20+ games each season. A former champion head coach at the JUCO level (Midland College), McCasland has used his connections to get elite talent that was flying under the radar, including Roosevelt Smart and incoming guards, Mardrez McBride and
Terence Lewis II.

Of course, the biggest name among his pickups is Javion Hamlet, a star guard who won CUSA Player of the Year this past season. He’ll be a rising senior next year and Mack would be the perfect replacement for him for 2021-22. And with Denton Texas, (North Texas location) just an hour drive away from Austin, this could be an ideal situation for Mack to play close to home and with a contender.
