NCAA Basketball: 10 teams who should target transfer Elijah Olaniyi
Clemson Tigers
A team that could use some more scoring help is Clemson, coming off averaged less than 70 ppg this past season. They’ll have to replace the production of both Aamir Simms and Clyde Trapp after next year as well, with Al-Amir Dawes and John Newman II the key pieces on the 2021-22 projected roster.
Head coach Brad Brownell looks to remain competitive in the ACC and besides having to find under the radar prospects, needs to get a couple of key transfers every now and then, similar to Tevin Mack. The opportunity to get minutes and a big role for a good ACC squad could be intriguing for the Stony Brook forward.
Creighton Bluejays
The offensive juggernaut that is the Bluejays has to be an interesting situation to consider for Olaniyi, particularly having to sit out a year. Cause by then, six of the team’s top seven scorers from this current roster could be gone by then. Ty-Shon Alexander has already departed for the draft, while Damien Jefferson and Mitchell Ballock will graduate after next year.
The team already is preparing for the future, adding four-star point guard Rati Andronikashvili this offseason and has Duke transfer guard Alex O’Connell sitting out the upcoming campaign. Adding Olaniyi would be a great boost on both sides of the ball and gives the staff potential mismatches offensively to exploit Big East defenses.
