NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing five-star F Kendall Brown top 10 teams
Baylor Bears
Another player going after Ingram is Baylor, who is in the same state of Texas as that prospect. After not usually targeting five-star prospects, the program is taking advantage of the historic past season and the increased public notice of the team. They already have a pair of talented four-star prospects (LJ Cryer and Dain Dainja) in the 2020 class but is looking for an even stronger class of 2021 recruiting haul, with as many as five available scholarships for them to use.
Next year’s roster still isn’t set with the team’s two leading scorers (Jared Butler and MaCio Teague) still in the NBA Draft process. If they think they’ll get drafted, they could stay. But with Davion Mitchell, Cryer and Presbyterian transfer Adam Flager around, the Bears will be fine. Senior forwards Tristan Clark and Mark Vital will occupy the frontcourt but the concern will be a lack of size overall, using mainly once again a three-guard lineup. That showed to be a weakness in the final few weeks of the season.
Adding Brown would give Baylor that ideal wing who could help the new frontcourt when it comes to rebounding and help defense. More importantly, getting a five-star commit and the public relations that would come from it would be tremendous and help them become a recruiting force in the Big 12 to keep up with Kansas and now Texas Tech.
