Arizona Wildcats

Leading scorer and starting forward Zeke Nnaji (16.1 ppg and 8.6 rpg) is off to the NBA Draft, mostly as expected. The Wildcats will have to replace his production, along with graduating big men Stone Gettings and Chase Jeter. That essentially leaves 6’7 forward Ira Lee, along with 7’0 center Christian Koloko. The wildcard for next year is Jordan Brown, a former five-star forward from Nevada who played very little as a freshman.

Arizona did bring in Seattle U grad transfer Terrell Brown Jr. to provide a scoring boost from the perimeter. If Brown can do the same in the frontcourt then this team will be fine. That’s a risk for Coach Sean Miller though so adding Smith, who would split time with Lee and provide more offense, would be a nice pickup in late May.

Arizona State Sun Devils

Between five-star commit Joshua Christopher, top-50 wing Marcus Bagley, Alonzo Verge Jr. and the potential return of leading scorer and passer Remy Martin, the Sun Devils could have the best overall perimeter offense in the Pac-12 next season. It looks very different in the frontcourt, with big man Romello White heading off to Ole Miss as a grad transfer.

There aren’t many options for Arizona State to find frontcourt help at this point. They missed out on Galin Smith from Alabama but did recently land a JUCO transfer center in Chris Osten. That leaves him, Kimani Lawrence and Taeshon Cherry for two spots. He’s undersized but Smith could play some small-ball five for Arizona State as they just use plenty guard-heavy lineups in the season.
