Penny Hardaway is proving to be a good recruiter and McClung would be joining Virginia Tech transfer Landers Nolley this offseason. Hardaway is building a reputable program and looking to develop NBA talent quickly, something that McClung will certainly take notice of when making his decision.

Boogie Ellis is returning for his sophomore season but could find himself in the league by the time McClung is eligible. Alex Lomax and Damion Baugh are both back for this next season meaning the Tigers have quite a few returning minutes at point guard.

McClung has expressed a lot of interest in being the primary ball-handler for a team and Memphis has a lot of young talent on their team that could be further developed in two seasons.

Nolley has the same goal of getting to the NBA as soon as possible and will be looking to have the ball in his hands as much as possible. McClung can be that point guard to go alongside him but it would mean he likely wouldn’t be the primary scoring option.

Memphis are looking to fill their final scholarship for next season and have also been active with  2021 five star Moussa Cisse. There is a chance Cisse would reclassify to 2020 and be an immediate impact for the Tigers who lost Achiuwa to the NBA draft.

I think the Tiger’s chances of getting McClung are probably pretty low but if the Tigers do manage to get McClung or Cisse to reclassify it’ll be a huge win for the program.
