Possible target for Brandon Avervette – BYU Cougars

After missing out on Georgetown transfer Mac McClung, the Cougars are still looking for a guard or two with the final two roster spots available. While grad transfer pickup Matt Haarms gives the team plenty of frontcourt depth, BYU only has Alex Barcello and Jesse Wade (who missed all of last season with knee issues) as capable roster ball-handlers.

Averette would be an ideal roster fit and has a relationship with the current coaching staff. BYU will certainly be in the picture but considering that they left the player a year ago, it’ll be interesting to see he follows them to a new program. Any lingering hard feelings could be a factor in this decision.

Possible target for Brandon Averette – Kansas State Wildcats

There were a couple of teams who could use Averette to add an immediate talent boost but DePaul graduate Jalen Coleman-Lands going to Iowa State takes them out as an option. Kansas State, however, could use a senior point guard after Cartier Diarra left to go to Virginia Tech. They do have four-star incoming freshman Nijel Pack, along with JUCO transfer Rueadale Williams joining the team but only Averette has D-I experience.

The Wildcats look like the worst Big 12 team for next season but adding a double-digit scorer with conference familiarity could make them more competitive, while still having a scholarship freed up for the 2021 recruiting class. He’d also get a couple more chances at revenge against his former school at Oklahoma State.
