Ball State’s backcourt is going to be one of the best in the MAC with the return of Ishmael El-Amin, who was originally scheduled to transfer (14 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast). El-Amin is a special young man who successfully organized a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest in Muncie, IN this past week. His superior leadership qualities is one of the reasons that Head Coach James Whitford’s Cardinals are excited about the upcoming campaign in the East Central Indiana city.

The rest of the Ball State roster looks like an Indiana High School all-star team with stellar players coming from New Castle, Cathedral, Columbia City and Lawrence North High Schools to play for Whitford, but the emergence of redshirt Junior Zach Gunn out of nearby Hamilton Southeastern High School could bring the Cardinal to the top of the MAC. Gunn, originally a Tom Crean recruit at IU, has struggled to live up to his high-end 3-star recruiting rating at Ball St and a season-ending injury last season did not help. If the 6’6 sharpshooter can come back healthy it could be a game-changer for the Cardinal’s NCAA tournament hopes.

Jalen Windham, Creighton transfer and former Indiana High School Basketball Star will be eligible in 2021-22. The future is bright for Ball State.

Prediction: #4 in MAC and Post Season Birth
