NCAA Basketball option for El Ellis – Iowa State Cyclones

Iowa State has been after Ellis for a while and has been in constant communication, there have been multiple virtual visits reported between the two. The Cyclones are coming off a rough year and looking to bounce back to being a consistent contender in the Big 12.

The Cyclones could give Ellis a great opportunity to be an immediate contributor and be the primary ball-handler. Iowa State had great production this last season with point guard Rasir Bolton. Bolton had the ball in his hands a lot, he and Ellis’ play styles are pretty similar, Ellis would be able to thrive in that same system.

Iowa State got an addition at the point guard via the transfer portal back in April with Memphis point guard Tyler Harris joining the Cyclones. Harris is a likely sit-one and play-two candidate moving forward unless he acquires a waiver. They also got Depaul grad transfer Jalen Coleman-Lands for this upcoming season but he won’t be around for the 2021 season.

Ellis picked up his Iowa State offer back in March and Steve Prohm has made Ellis a priority addition for their 2021 class. The Cyclones look like an attractive destination for Ellis and despite the competition shouldn’t be ruled out by any means for landing the JUCO guard.
