9. Big 12 Basketball coach rankings – Bob Huggins

Kansas State (2006-2007), West Virginia (2012-2020)

Long before becoming a head coach in the Big 12, Huggins had already made a name for himself. He led Cincinnati to a Final Four and a whole bunch of success and did the same with West Virginia before they joined the conference. Huggins is one of the great head coaches in the game today and he’s done more than enough in his time in the Big 12 to warrant a spot on the list.

First of all, his one season at Kansas State featured a great turnaround, as the Wildcats won 23 games, their most in a season since 1988. After leading West Virginia to that Final Four, he led the Mountaineers into the Big 12 and has made them a perennial contender in the league. While he’s yet to usurp Kansas, his Mountaineers have finished in the top 3 five times and made four NCAA Tournaments along the way, with three trips ending in the Sweet Sixteen.

While Huggins’ glory days aren’t in the Big 12, there’s no denying he’s made great strides at these two schools. He led West Virginia into the conference and quickly made them one of the league’s top teams. There’s plenty more work to be done with the Mountaineers, but you can’t deny that Huggins has done outstanding work to this point.
