NCAA Basketball: Analyzing top-100 PG Tyrese Hunter top 10 programs
Arizona State Sun Devils
It’s still unknown as to whether starting point guard Remy Martin will be back for another season but either way, he’ll be gone by the time Hunter would potentially arrive anyways. But the Sun Devils already have his replacement on the roster in Portland State transfer guard Holland Woods, who’s set to sit out next season.
Assuming incoming five-star guard Joshua Christopher is only going to around for a year and Alonzo Verge Jr. is graduating as well, Arizona State will be in need of additional guards for the 2020-21 season. Hunter is capable of playing off the ball alongside Woods for a year and take over the lead ball-handling duties in the seasons after. And considering the great history of coach Bobby Hurley with point guards and their development, Hunter could become a future star for the Pac-12 program.
Florida Gators
Even with starting point guard Andrew Nembhard transferring out this offseason, Florida still has both Tre Mann and Cleveland State transfer Tyree Appleby to take over next year and even the year after. But the team still needs to find a point guard of the future in case one opts to go pro in 2021.
Florida already has four-star wing Kowacie Reeves Jr. committed in the 2021 class and outside of maybe the center position, there isn’t much of a positional need that has to be filled. Point guard, whether as an upgrade to Mann or in case Appleby struggles in the SEC, should be addressed and Hunter is a legit prospect they can reasonably land.
